NAC, CSOs Brainstorm on Solutions to Sustain HIV Response Interventions

As Liberia adopts strategies to meet its global targets by ending AIDS in 2030 as a public health threat, the National AIDS Commission (NAC) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) continue to hold dialogues on how best to sustain different interventions in the National HIV response.

It can be recalled in August 2024, the Government of Liberia, through the National AIDS Commission, hosted a national dialogue to develop a Sustainability Road Map to solicit stakeholders’ views in sustaining all HIV-related programs after 20230.

The Sustainability Road Map is a country-led plan aimed at achieving global AIDS targets by 2030. The dialogue with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) captured Part ‘A’ Phase-2 of the Road Map, the document that seeks to solicit inputs from CSOs on how HIV response can be sustained after the 2030 benchmark.

Additionally, the road map focuses on maintaining the impact and achievements made beyond 2030.  When developed, it will outline steps to transform health and HIV-related political leadership, policies, finances, systems, and services. It will also align with existing strategies and plans, including those for HIV, health, and related social activities.

The proposed transformation in the road map will however inform future revisions in national strategies, including those related to HIV and other health sectors including a multi-sectoral strategy.

Speaking during the forum, representatives of various CSOs pledged their unwavering support to the fight against HIV and AIDS by using their various platforms. Providing possible suggestions to the fight, the CSOs called for a robust resource mobilization team guided by a multi-sectorial approach with the National AIDS Commission taking the lead.
